The wines from Rioja may be the famous ones but the Txakoli, «the other» basque wine is bocoming trendy and have now turned into a more sophisticated wine that has conquered the most demanding palates. Visiting a Txakoli winery we will learn about the wine-making process, walk through the vineyards and of course, taste some of this sparkling young white wine.
The prettiest of the towns along this stretch of coast, Getaria is nestled between beautiful beaches, Txakolí vineyards and a mouse-shaped hill known as the ‘Ratón de Getaria’. Being for centuries an imortant whaling port, still today is the fishing industry what gives it a sense of purpose and the excellent grilled fish restaurants are well-known in the area. Here, we will have the opportunity to have lunch (not included) in one of the many restaurants facing this fishing port full of charm.
The white church of San Telmo is the best viewpoint to see the Geopark, a coastal park where the spectacular geological formations and colours of the flysch (rock strata) look out defiantly over the ocean.
